First draft complete—Whispers of Kith and Kin manuscript on desk

There’s a certain magic in completing the first draft of a novel. It’s a moment that marks the culmination of countless hours of imagination, dedication, and sheer determination. Today, I’m thrilled to share with you a personal milestone: I’ve finished the first draft of my latest work, a Chistian suspense novel, “Whispers of Kith and Kin.”

“Whispers of Kith and Kin” is a story I’ve been shaping in my mind for quite some time now.

It’s a tale of fiercely kept secrets, deep-rooted grudges, and ingrained prejudices. Set against the backdrop of a quaint, southern town, it explores the themes of justice, accountability, and the power of faith to conquer darkness.

The process of writing this first draft has been both exciting and challenging. There were moments when I could easily slip into that curious place in my mind when the words would spill onto the page. Yet there were days when I questioned my senses, my skills, and my sanity. Still, each day I returned to the computer driven by a love of the characters and a desire to tell a worthy, faith-filled story.

This is just the beginning…

Of course, completing the first draft is just the beginning of the journey. I still have much to do in the editing and revision process. But for now, I’m allowing myself to bask in the satisfaction of reaching this significant milestone.

I’ve cherished the encouragement, feedback, and patience of my friends, family, and fellow writers.

Without you, I wouldn’t be writing this post. I am especially thankful for my daughters—my ideal readers who are ever gentle and loving with their old mom. Still, they are not afraid to tell me when my plot’s gotten convoluted, or when my characters morph into shadowy silhouettes or act contrary to their nature—and more romance, woman!

As I look ahead to the next steps in bringing “Whispers of Kith and Kin” to life, I’m filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. I can’t wait to share this story with you. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Your support means more than you know.

Until next time,

~~ Kaye

I go to that curious place in my mind

where reality is replaced by possibilities and what ifs

A place of goodness and beauty and truth

where images and feelings and memory morph into words

When there is a story that must be told,

I go to a different world in my mind
